RightWATCH is a low-volume e-newsletter that disseminates information about the activities of the "right-wing." "Right-wing" is used not as a partisan term but to refer to campaigns that attempt to "limit democracy" or "limit pluralism." More specifically we are concerned with monitoring right wing attacks on any or all of the following:
-reproductive rights
-civil liberties, constitutional rights, and church-state separation
-environment protections
-education
-voting reforms
-gay rights
-social programs
-efforts to reduce corporate corruption and economic inequality
This list was originally created in 1995 as can-rw, a resource for campus organizers, and is now associated with the collaborative research web site www.13myths.org. Our strategy is to focus on information that includes grounded research about the background, true motives, or actual agenda of conservative players and institutions.
Most of the articles on this list are posted by designated "stringers" who are assigned to watch some higher-volume email lists and forward over the most relevant material. Other submissions are considered, but need to be strictly within the guidelines. Opinion pieces and articles that contain unsubstantiated allegations are unlikely to be posted. In addition, it is our goal to exclude messages that are too long, that contain HTML mail with embedded graphics or large attachments, or that are already cross-posted to numerous other discussions. Typically, no more than two messages a week will be sent out. By following these guidelines, we hope to establish RightWATCH as a source of relevant
and reliable information.
